Mayo General volunteer service looking for recruits

Mayo General Hospital has launched a recruitment drive for a new volunteer service to assist and support members of the public when visiting the hospital. The hospital is now looking for volunteers to take part in the pilot project and would welcome volunteers from all sections of the community aged 18 years and over (there is no upper age limit). Training and support will be provided to all volunteers.

Approval has been given to Mayo General Hospital for a new permanently-based MRI scanner and a replacement CT scanner. The money for MRI and CT scanners has been raised through the generosity of the people of Mayo. The funds were raised by a number of established cancer charities, and the core groups involved were Cancer Action Mhaigh-Eo and the Bright Eyes Campaign.
